Towergate Donates £500,000 To UK Hospice
Leading insurance intermediary, Towergate Partnership, has made
a donation of half a million pounds to The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping
House.
The donation will help secure a platform for further fundraising
to achieve their developing plans for expansion.
The hospice has been engaged in recent years in a wide-ranging
feasibility study to consider developing a full service
purpose-built hospice including 24-hour care.
Towergate are long-term supporters of Help the Hospices, who
helped them identify Tapping House as
providing much needed services to a wide catchment area in
Norfolk.
Tapping House Chief Executive, Janet Doyle, was delighted with
the donation. She said: "This is a tremendous boost to our
fundraising and we are extremely grateful to Towergate Partnership
for their support.
"We hope this will encourage others within the wider community
to demonstrate their support for this vital local service."
"We are at the early stages of plans to renew and develop our
facilities to ensure the highest quality care for the people of
Norfolk and the Fens with cancers and other life-limiting
illnesses. This money means that we will be able to advance our
plans."
Towergate's Executive Chairman, Peter Cullum, who presented the
cheque at a special event at Westminster Abbey, said: "It has been
a great pleasure to be involved in raising the profile of Tapping House to our
stakeholders and we wish the Board of Trustees every success in the
future."
"A company is not just about business performance, it's also
about having a heart and soul. Our motto is 'make money, have fun,
do good' and I must thank all of our colleagues and clients who
have helped us do just that, particularly those who have given up
their time to walk, clean cars, run, or even jump, to raise money
for Help the Hospices."
"We have achieved many great things in our ten year journey, but
handing over a cheque that will make an immense difference to such
a great cause in my home county is without question one of my
proudest moments since forming Towergate."
Janet Doyle highlighted the need for donations in the light of
funding shortages.
She said: "It is vital that we continue to raise money from the
local community to support the hospice, as over 80% of our running
cost has to come from voluntary donations to support our care for
those at the end of life and we desperately need support from
individuals, community groups, associations and businesses to keep
helping us deliver first class services."
